Premier Scott Moe says his government is going to invest $10 million to support communities who depend on the coal industry.
Estevan, Coronach and area are transitioning out of coal based industry.
The City of Estevan will receive $8 million dollars. The town of Coronach will receive $2 million dollars. The money is also expected to make its way into neighbouring municipalities.
The province points out that current federal regulation require all coal-fired power stations to be decommissioned after 50 years of operation or to close by 2030, whichever comes first.
