Medavie Health Services says one of its off-duty paramedics saved a life in Edmonton on February 15th, using an Automated External Defibrillator. Mitchell Ehr was visiting the Royal Alberta Museum with his family when they came across a male bystander who was going into cardiac arrest. Ehr, along with the museum’s Emergency Response Coordinator and a bystander started CPR and delivered one shock from the AED. The patient started to breathe on his own, opened his eyes, and had his pulse return. Later this year, Ehr will be awarded Medavie’s Chief’s award by EMS Chief Gerry Schriemer.
