Grass Fire Near Wastewater Treatment Plant

If you were in the Silverwood Heights neighbourhood early this afternoon, you may have heard the emergency sirens.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says multiple 911 calls came in just after 1 this afternoon (Mon) about a grass fire along the riverbank in that area.
Firefighters responded to the east end of Adilman Drive and the brush truck continued on towards the riverbank.
A small but growing fire was found near the fence line of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
It was brought under control around 1:50 p.m., but fire crews continued to extinguish hot spots for some time afterwards.
The cause of the fire isn’t known at this time.
