Another Scam to Watch Out for

By Carol Thomson Jan 28, 2021 | 6:37 AM

SGI says if you get an email request from your bank asking for a photo or scan of the driver’s licence, call your bank to make sure it’s real.
That’s because scammers are targeting SGI customers and asking for this personal information.
A news release from the Crown Corporation urges that if you do get one of these emails, don’t use the contact information listed on the email to reply to your bank.
Instead use the contact information you have for your bank.
If you think you have provided your driver’s licence to a scammer, SGI suggests contacting the police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
You can also notify SGI of the potential issue.
