The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation is calling on the provincial government to move to Level Four for two weeks after the Easter break.
That would mean all schools transitioning to online learning as of Monday, April 12th and continuing until April 23rd.
President Patrick Maze says this two week buffer would help to protect students, teachers and staff, in the event people decide to travel or gather over the break.
He notes health officials are saying the variants are up to 70 per cent more transmissible and 40 per cent of youth are asymptomatic. Maze says the variants aren’t just an issue in Regina and Moose Jaw. There is an increase throughout the province, so he hopes the government will be proactive and move to Level Four for schools after the break.
