Province’s Clarification of Step 3 Gathering Sizes Makes Roughriders Happy

By Les Lazaruk Jun 1, 2021 | 5:32 PM

Needless to say, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are excited by the Step 3 clarification on no gathering size limits, as mentioned in the news Tuesday afternoon by Premier Scott Moe, so long as the province hits the target of 70 per cent of the population aged 12-and-over having received their first shot of vaccine.

Those restrictions could be lifted, as well as masks being removed, by as early as July 11. The C-F-L plans to kick off a 14-game season in early August after forgoing its 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That would go for a lot of sports in Saskatchewan. The last time the Riders played a home game at Mosaic Stadium was the West Division final on November 17, 2019. The Green and White said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that they are working to bring fans back in the safest way possible, plus will let fans know about health and safety protocols and ticket availability as soon as they are able to. Following is the statement from the Riders…..

STATEMENT FROM THE SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

We are thrilled to hear from the Premier that we will be able to welcome Rider Nation back to Mosaic Stadium without capacity restrictions once step three is achieved. It is a testament to the people of Saskatchewan who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to get here.

Mosaic Stadium has not been full since November 17, 2019, and a lot of work is happening behind the scenes to be able to welcome fans back in the safest way possible. We will communicate any health and safety protocols as well as our ticket process as soon as they are finalized.

We are looking forward to the opportunity to bring Saskatchewan together again to celebrate our Green and White.

In the meantime, we encourage you to help the province reach its step three goal by getting your vaccine as soon as you are eligible and by continuing to follow all the current health guidelines.
