The President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce says lifting the COVID-19 Public Health regulations won’t bring us back to where we were pre-pandemic, but it will bring us back to some sense of normalcy.
Steve McLellan urges for mutual respect, explaining that some businesses will want to continue with a masking policy and the same goes for some customers.
He says there is optimism and excitement in the business community.
McLellan understands that some sectors were hit harder than others, like the tourism and entertainment industries, but with summer here and all the activities that go with it, he hopes people will continue to shop and tour around Saskatchewan.
Other sectors like manufacturing and RV sales have done very well, so McLellan expects the fall numbers will be very positive.
He emphasizes that the important thing as we transition into the new level with no protocols is to be respectful of each other, and allow people to make the choices that make sense for that person.
