Environment Canada says a hot airmass over southern Saskatchewan on Tuesday led to many new temperature records for September 28th.
Nineteen locations tied or set new records including Saskatoon which saw a daytime high of 30.8 degrees beating out the old record of 28.9 set in 1967. A 123 year old record fell in Regina where the daily maximum on Tuesday climbed to 33.3 degrees besting the old record of 32.2 set in 1898.
While the temperature is expected to moderate it is still forecast to be well above seasonal for the next week. Normal for this time of year is a daytime high of 15 degrees and overnight low around 3 degrees Celsius.
The hot spot in Saskatchewan and Canada on Tuesday was Yellow Grass (North) where the mercury topped out at 34.1 degrees.
