Police Cruiser Rammed

Saskatoon Police say one of their police cruisers was hit several times by a suspect in a stolen vehicle.

The Guns and Gangs Unit were in the area of 20th Street and Avenue P South shortly after 8:30 last night when they spotted a vehicle known to be stolen.

Police tried to pull it over when it was seen pulling into a parking lot in the 1600 block of 11th Street West which is when the passenger got out but the driver, trying to get away, allegedly hit a police vehicle five times as well as a civilian vehicle in the vicinity.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed on 11th Street and a suspect was taken into custody.

A 26 year old man is charged with two counts of Assault Police Officer,, Possession of Buprenorphine, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, and Fail to Stop After Accident.

The 25-year-old passenger is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Buprenorphine.
