The Western Hockey League’s regular season has been extended by two weeks through April 17.

The playoffs will begin April 22 with the latest date a league champion would be decided being June 14. The move follows yesterday’s announcement by the Canadian Hockey League to push back the Memorial Cup in Saint John, New Brunswick from a June 3 to 12 event to a June 20 through 29 competition. All of this is due to postponements due to COVID-19 and/or attendance restrictions because of the pandemic. The Saskatoon Blades have four games re-scheduled and added to the end of their campaign. A March 18 home game against Prince Albert will now be played April 8. Bridge City Bunch away games in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge will be played April 5 and 6, respectively while the Blue and Gold will close out their 68-game season with an April 15 home game against Brandon. Following is the news release from the W-H-L…..
