NDP MLA for Regina Rosemont, Trent Wotherspoon tweeted this morning (sat) saying to take his name out of the consideration for the next leader of the provincial NDP. Wotherspoon says he’s not prepared to be away and sacrifice time away from his family. He did thank all of the people who have reached out to him and urged him to make a run for leader.
Current leader Ryan Meili announced Friday that he’s stepping down once the party finds a new leader. Meili said it’s time for a new voice and said it was time to step away after considering to resign for the last little while.
Ryan Meili won the 2018 NDP leadership race, with Wotherspoon finishing behind him.
