The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital has received a generous donation of nearly $2 million dollars from a local Saskatchewan farmer which will go towards purchasing urgently needed equipment and will help provide the latest technology and cutting-edge equipment that is required for specialized healthcare at JPCH.
Gene Pidwerbesky and his family farm near Borden and donated $1,980,000 dollars to the three year-old Children’s Hospital.
Gene’s daughter Jaclyn Baum says last year, they got to see the state of the healthcare system in our province after he suffered a life-changing farming accident.
They wanted to help a decide to start with Saskatchewan children.
“We spent a lot of time really in both RUH, St. Paul’s and then eventually City and so we got to see a lot of the state of the healthcare system and he (Gene) just wanted to help. He had been through a lot in the last year and I think when you go through something like that, you think about what you do to make the world a better place.”
The generous donation helped launch a new program titled ‘Harvest For Kids’ Health’ to purchase needed equipment.
This is the first significant donation the Pidwerbesky family has made.
