The highest score for the provinces in the CFIB’s red tape report card was Alberta with an A- and the lowest was Newfoundland and Labrador with an F.
Every year the Canadian Federation of Independent Business releases a report card, grading the provinces in red tape with the categories regulatory accountability and regulatory burden and new this year, political priority, which grades the provinces on how much of a priority getting rid of the red tape is.
Saskatchewan is seventh out of eleven, which includes the ten provinces and the federal government, with an overall B grade.
Director of Provincial Affairs with CFIB says Saskatchewan can improve on its transparency by implementing regulatory constraints, such as a one-for-one rule where for every new piece of legislation introduced another is eliminated.
She believes that would be a good accountability mechanism that the province could introduce.
