Zoning changes to be discussed for six-storey condo at 8th Street and Broadway Avenue

City Council has received letters both for and against a six-storey condo at the corner of 8th Street and Broadway Avenue. They will be presented at tomorrow night’s (Wed) public hearing meeting of City Council. Area resident, Gary Thorinson has requested to speak. He is against rezoning from residential to commercial, saying it will create traffic, safety and parking problems, both within the development and in the neighbourhood and there are no traffic studies.

Executive Director of the Boradway Business Improvement District, DeeAnn Mercier is in support of the project. She believes it would contribute to the revitalization and improvement of a property which has largely been vacant for the past three decades. City administration is recommending that council approve the zoning changes.
