Saskatoon Police say a psychiatrist working in the city has been charged with fraud over $5,000.

In February 2022, police were notified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan of suspected fraudulent activity relating to medical billings of a Saskatoon psychiatrist.

Economic Crime Section investigators deduced a government agency had been defrauded of more than $90,000 after being billed for fraudulent services between September of 2017 and December of 2018.

A 65-year-old Saskatoon man turned himself in to police on Tuesday. He was arrested, processed, and released on conditions and is back in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 28.
