Charges of not providing necessities of life after child found in home with drugs and loaded handgun

On Tuesday the La Ronge Crime Reduction Team executed a search warrant in a home in the Sucker River community of Lac La Ronge Indian Band as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers located and seized a loaded handgun, a quantity of ammunition, approximately 172 grams of crack cocaine, a sum of cash and other drug paraphernalia.  Two adults and one young person were arrested at the scene.  Officers also located a child in the home and took them to a safe location.

All three were in provincial court on Thursday.  A 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, both from Sucker River, are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine; possession of the proceeds of crime; fail to provide the necessities of life. A 16-year-old male from Richmond Hill, Ontario is facing eight counts including trafficking and weapons charges.
