Early Wednesday morning , a man was shot and transported to hospital with serious injuries. Officers were told several individuals approached the home and RCMP believe this was a targeted incident.

The Chief and Council of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation met with provincial government officials on November 8th to discuss a Community Safety Proposal. Chief Karen Bird says it was a constructive meeting, but continued violence has prompted calls for expedited action. Chief Bird says they are in “an ongoing state of emergency and the community’s safety hangs in the balance.”
