A female inmate on remand at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre was found unresponsive and has since been declared deceased.
Yesterday at 4:10pm, the 24-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her cell. Corrections staff initiated lifesaving measures and called EMS, who transported her to hospital.
She was declared dead at 5:21pm.
The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, the Prince Albert Police Service, and the Ministry of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety are all investigating.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
