NDP introduces Hire Saskatchewan Plan

The Leader of the provincial NDP has introduced the party’s Hire Saskatchewan Plan. Carla Beck says it would retool the province’s existing procurement Crown, SaskBuilds, to ensure that Saskatchewan workers and businesses are put first for public contracts, like building and maintaining public infrastructure. She explains that consideration would be based on cost, but also the value and benefit to local communities. Beck suggests local workers and job creators have lost out previously to big out-of-province companies, and she intimates they often have Sask Party ties.
