Domestic disturbance turns into an assault on police charge

Saskatoon Police responded to a domestic dispute in the city’s Nutana Park neighbourhood where one man was arrested for assaulting police.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Middleton Crescent around 12:30 a.m. When they arrived there was a 19-year-old man who appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was causing a disturbance inside the home.

Police say he refused to comply with police commands and when they tried to take him into custody he assaulted the officers. Consequently the 19-year-old is facing two counts of assaulting a police officer.

And Wednesday morning Saskatoon police responded to a report of an assault in progress around 8:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Fairmont Drive.

Officers were told that a verbal confrontation had occurred between several people and a 30-year-old man allegedly physically assaulted a 14-year-old girl. She suffered non life threatening injures.

The 30-year-old has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
