Giants Prevail in High-Scoring Affair as Blades Open B-C Road Trip

By Les Lazaruk Nov 2, 2024 | 12:33 AM

It was an uncharacteristic way to start the Western Conference road trip as the Saskatoon Blades scored six times, yet lost 7-6 to the Vancouver Giants Friday night in Langley, B-C.

The home side was the only team to score back-to-back goals in the high-scoring affair, doing so twice – once to overtake David Lewandowski’s opening goal and the second time late in the third period to break a 5-5 tie. The teams traded goals six times in front of over 3,300 fans at the Langley Event Centre. Lewandowski ended up scoring twice for the Bridge City Bunch, who out-shot Vancouver 48-25. Hudson Kibblewhite, Rowan Calvert, Tyler Parr and Brandon Lisowsky also tallied for the 10-3-1 Blue and Gold. Central Scouting “B” rated prospect for the 2025 N-H-L Draft Cameron Schmidt scored twice while Montreal Canadiens’ draft pick Tyler Thorpe added a goal and two assists for the 8-4-2 Giants, now 3-0-2 in their last five games. In all seven members of the Blades and six Vancouver skaters posted multi-point games. Lisowsky and Parr each added an assist to their goals while Ben Riche, Grayden Siepmann, Tanner Molendyk and Cooper Williams chipped in with a pair of helpers each. Saskatoon travels Saturday by ferry to Victoria and a Sunday matinee against the Royals. Game time is 5:05 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 4:45. Following are audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast plus Les Lazaruk’s Post-Game Show interview with head coach Dan Da Silva and the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
