A 34-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, both from Regina Beach, face a series of charges – the details of which can be found below – following a stolen vehicle investigation that turned into an Eastern Saskatchewan odyssey.
An initial report of a stolen S-U-V was made to Lumsden RCMP last Thursday with police determining that the vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a residence in Regina Beach. The follow-up on information received about the stolen S-U-V came to a head Sunday at about 3:30 p.m. when Melville RCMP were told the S-U-V was near the town. Officers located it on Highway 10 and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued driving, evading several efforts to stop it. A tire deflation device was then set up in the Foam Lake area, which the S-U-V ran over. It also struck a number of police vehicles before finally coming to a stop in a field near Elfros. The two occupants were arrested. The police vehicles were damaged, but there were no injuries reported to any officers. 34-year-old Levi Bast-Kozar from Regina Beach is charged with:
– one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
– one count, flight from police officer.
– one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and
– three counts, assault on police officer with weapon.
The 33-year-old female from Regina Beach is charged with one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Both were also arrested on charges related to a vehicle theft reported to White Butte RCMP on September 28.
Levi Bast-Kozar was also arrested on charges related to a vehicle theft reported to White Butte RCMP on September 25.
