Saskatchewan RCMP is using a recent traffic incident to highlight the importance of gravel road safety.

Over the weekend, a driver was stopped going 165 kilometres per hour on a gravel road, which is an 80 kilometre/hour zone.

 The driver was given a $1080 fine, a seven-day suspension, and a 30-day impoundment.

Officers are now reminding grid-road racers to slow down, increase following distance, avoid sudden movements, watch for soft shoulders, and stay alert.
