Blades Add Gardner’s Shutout Goaltending to Dominant Home-and-Home Sweep of Pats

As good as Marek Schlenker was Saturday, Evan Gardner was even better Sunday as the Saskatoon Blades blanked the Pats 4-0 in Regina.

Gardner stopped 28 shots for his second shutout of the season and ninth of his career, tying him with Andrei Makarov for second in franchise history. His best stop was a scorpion-like, right leg kick save off Zachary Lansard late in the second period with the Bridge City Bunch only ahead 2-0. Coupled with Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win over the Pats, the Blue and Gold swept the home-and-home series coming out of the Christmas break with their Big-City Saskatchewan rivals, upping their overall season record to 19-14-3. Tristen Doyle, Hayden Harsanyi, Jack Kachkowski and Cohen Lewko scored the Blades’ goals – Lewko’s tally was his first in the Western Hockey League. Saskatoon out-shot Regina 37-28 in their final game of the 2025 calendar year. Next action for the Bridge City Bunch is a New Year’s Day matinee in Brandon and a Saturday, January 3 home game against the Wheat Kings at SaskTel Centre.
