Broncos rally back late in third, snap long winless drought in overtime over Blades

Up until overtime it was Deja vu for the Saskatoon Blades and Swift Current Broncos. The last time the two teams met was exactly one month ago on Friday, February 13th in a thrilling Blue and Gold overtime victory with back-and-forth action, including a late Broncos goal to send the game to overtime. Flash forward to Friday, March 13th, a back-and-forth game with Swifty tying the game late to force overtime, this time however the Broncos came out on top 4-3 and snapped a 13-game winless drought that began back one month ago against Saskatoon. The Broncos scored 32-seconds on a rebound thanks to Carter Moen with the next three goals being scored unanswered by the Bridge City Bunch. Rowan Calvert scored his team-high 31st of the season followed by Hunter Laing with a perfect shot past Broncos netminder Berney Weston, who started his second career W-H-L game tonight. Cooper Williams tied a Blades franchise record for fastest goal to start a period, setup six seconds in on a power-play by David Lewandowski. Swift Current didn’t shy away with captain Hudson Darby beginning the comeback and Hyde Davidson scoring late in the third on a power-play to tie the game at three. It was Davidson in the middle again in overtime with his shot bouncing off of Sawyer Dingman 3:14 into overtime on their first shot to secure the win, and the first career win for goaltender Berney Weston. The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, switching venues in the process down south in Speedy Creek for the final meeting between the two clubs this season.
