40 Communities Share in Cameco COVID-19 Relief Fund

By Gord Wiebe May 1, 2020 | 6:30 AM

Cameco says its COVID-19 Relief Fund is supporting 67 community projects in Saskatoon and in northern Saskatchewan. The $1 million program is being split between 40 communities. Part of the money will go towards bringing 10 thousand masks, seven thousand pairs of gloves, and seven thousand litres of hand sanitizer to northerner communities and First Nations. The company says there were also donations of supplies and money from nearly 1200 Cameco employees augmenting the company’s million dollar contribution. Cameco says the initiative demonstrated the overwhelming need that exists in saskatoon and in the north. By the submission deadline, 581 applications have been received seeking more than $17.5 million in assistance.
