Man Dies In Cell at Ahtahkakoop RCMP Detachment

A 24 year old man has died in a cell at the Ahtahkakoop RCMP Detachment.
RCMP say the man was found unresponsive around 8 Wednesday morning.
He had been taken into custody a few hours earlier around 4:30 in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Life saving measures were performed including an officer using an AED, but the 24 year old was declared dead by EMS around 9:15.
As is RCMP policy, there will be an independent investigation.
The Saskatchewan RCMP has requested the Moose Jaw Police Service to conduct an investigation into the in-custody sudden death.
The Coroner’s Service will also conduct an investigation and the Ministry of Justice will appoint an independent observer.
