Federal health officials are concerned about a potential spike in the number of COVID-19 infections in the coming weeks.

Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the next 2 weeks will be nerve-wracking. She says it won’t just be a reflection of schools and colleges but also the last long weekend along with any large gatherings with the potential to spark a new chain of transmission.

There was a 25% jump in the number of cases in Canada over the past week, with a daily average of 435.
There are now more than 132 thousand cases, with 9,146 deaths and 116,900 recoveries.
