Ward 4 Acclaimed Troy Davies

By Brad Jennings Oct 29, 2020 | 3:16 PM

Troy Davies, will return as city councillor in Ward 4, by acclamation, as there were no other candidates that put their names forward.

Davies says his voting record shows he has been focusing on the basics for Saskatoon the past 8 years. He suggests work on things like roads, sidewalks, garbage, and back alleys seem like they are easy to cover but it may surprise residents on the work they’ve had to do in the past. Davies adds he would like to see roadwork in Ward 4 continue or caught up to speed.

Davies says another focus has been safety, this includes looking at the police force and giving them the tools they need to ensure people are safe in their neighbourhoods, backyards and streets.

Davies believes in bringing more amenities to the neighbourhoods that need them, so people don’t have to leave their neighbourhoods to get their everyday needs. He points to some Westside neighbourhoods that are currently lacking and could use improvements.

Davies says through the pandemic the city will need some stabilized financing. He adds moving forward no one really knows what the answer is and how the pandemic will play out, and focus will be to make sure budgets are met and not overrunning. He adds the city is sitting pretty good financially right now with supports from the Federal and Provincial governments. However, Davies says cities live and die by their downtown, and believes the downtown needs to be supported. He suggests the city needs to support local business and small businesses to ensure their doors stay open.
