A Regina man is facing twenty charges, including attempted murder, in connection to a police investigation of multiple criminal events. The Regina Police Service says they include reports of a firearm being pointed at a driver, a robbery at a restaurant, pointing a gun at a passenger in a vehicle at the restaurant and telling them to get out and then fleeing the scene, speeding and running lights, hitting a car while police were in pursuit, automobile thefts, stealing a license plate and theft of fuel from a gas bar.
A 29 year old man’s charges include attempted murder using a firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of hit and run and driving while prohibited. Thomas Chartrand made his first court appearance today at Regina Provincial Court.
Officers were dispatched around 10 in the evening on February 3rd to a report of a firearms offence. They were told a male on foot was approached by a male in a vehcile and the pedestrian discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction and then fled. The driver wasn’t injured.
A canine track led to a bag which is alledged to have had ammunition inside, but no suspects were located. Regina Police say the bag led to the identification of a 29 year old Regina man.
Then on February 10th, there was a report of a robbery at a restaurant where officers were told a man with a firearm demanded money. It’s alleged he also pointed the firearm at a female who was a passenger in a vehicle, demanding they exit and then he drove away. Then reports started coming in about a vehicle speeding and running lights. While police were in pursuit, the vehicle hit another car. Then a report of a hit and run came, and the vehicle was abandoned on McTavish Street.
The 29 year old was arrested on February 12th in Morse on an unrelated matter.
