On Sunday the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a fire in an apartment suite.
At 3:14 a.m. in the 1100 block of Avenue W South. On arrival, a suite was found to be filled with smoke and a couch on fire. The fire was brought under control shortly after at 3:31 a.m.
No injuries were reported and the Fire Investigator has determined cause of the fire to be smoking material, which caused $25,000 in damage to the suite.
House Fire on Avenue S
Minutes after the suite fire was reported the Saskatoon Fire department received another call at 3:21 a.m. for a house fire in the 300 block of Avenue S South. Crews found two houses on fire. Five fire engines, one rescue engine, and an aerial truck were dispatched. Two fire investigators and a police investigator are on scene. Damage between the two properties is estimated at $500,000.
