A recommendation is included in a report that City of Saskatoon administration will present on Monday to the Governance and Priorities Committee, saying that the city in-source collections service for the city-wide curbside organics program.  That mandatory program is slated to begin in the spring of 2023.

The in-source city-wide collection of organic waste will come at an estimated annual cost of three to $3.3 million.  The option was recommended based on cost, cost stability, life cycle cost, span of control and labour relations implications.

Back on October 22, 2018, City Council approved the establishment of a new waste management service level of bi-weekly, year-round waste and organics collection for all curbside residential households.
