Canadian Olympic Curling Trials Schedule Released, Single-Draw Tickets Go On Sale Friday Morning

Last week’s Direct-Trials Event in Ottawa gave the Tim Horton’s Canadian Olympic Curling Trials their first “home” team when Matt Dunstone’s Regina foursome qualified for the November 20-28 event at SaskTel Centre.

The schedule for the Trials was released Wednesday by Curling Canada with Dunstone to play Mike McEwen of Winnipeg in their first game on the opening Saturday evening. There are still more Saskatchewan foursomes with a shot at catching a berth in Saskatoon, with the Pre-Trials at the end of October in Nova Scotia. Those quartets are skipped by Penny Barker of Moose Jaw, Sherry Anderson of Saskatoon and Colton Flasch of Saskatoon. A home team is in place (and more could be on the way) for the 2021 Tim Hortons Canadian Curling Trials, presented by AGI, in Saskatoon

And with today’s launch of the official schedule for the Trials, scheduled for Nov 20-28 at the SaskTel Centre, fans can nail down their preferred seats for their preferred games for the event that will decide Canada’s four-player curling teams for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Team Matt Dunstone of Regina clinched a berth in the Trials, qualifying out of the Canadian Curling Trials Direct Entry Event this past weekend in Ottawa.

Team Dunstone will face an early test on the opening Saturday night, taking on the other team that came out of the Direct Entry Event, Team Mike McEwen of Winnipeg.

Team Dunstone is the first Saskatchewan team to qualify for the Trials, but more could come out of the Home Hardware Curling Pre-Trials, scheduled for Oct. 26-31 in Liverpool, N.S., where the final two men’s and two women’s teams for the Tim Hortons Curling Trials will be decided. Three Saskatchewan teams — Team Sherry Anderson and Team Colton Flasch, both of Saskatoon, and Team Penny Barker of Moose Jaw — are in the field in Liverpool.

Friday at 10 a.m. CT, fans will be able to select from a variety of ticketing options, including single-draw tickets that start at just $20.21. Here’s a look at the available single-draw options:

Round-robin games Saturday through Thursday range from $20.21 (morning draws) to $31.25.
Friday (final day of round-robin play) starting at $39.50.
Saturday semifinal games ticket prices start at $45.
Sunday’s men’s and women’s finals ticket prices start at $59.75.

All youth (under 18) single-draw tickets will be $15, all in.

Championship Weekend Package ($259-$289); final seven draws plus tiebreaker draw if necessary.
Opening Weekend Package ($119); first 5 draws on opening Saturday and Sunday.
Monday through Thursday Single-Day Packages (ranging from $59-$79).
Full-Event Package ranging (from $489-$579).

Fans can also add on a Whisky and Waffles event, brought to you by Forty Creek, on the final weekend in the World Famous Patch for just $40.

All tickets are subject to standard facility and ticket service fees.

All seats at the SaskTel Centre are available for the Trials, but as per Curling Canada’s recently announced policy, all fans in attendance must provide proof of double vaccination to enter the building.

Leading up to the Trials, Curling Canada will be in regular contact with local, regional and national health authorities to ensure the safest possible environment for athletes and fans at the SaskTel Centre.

Nine men’s and nine women’s teams will be in Saskatoon and will play a single round-robin draw. The top three teams will reach the playoffs, with second and third-place teams meeting in semifinals, and the first-place team going straight to the final — one win away from the Olympic Games.

Five more teams were added to the field by qualifying out of the Canadian Curling Trials Direct Entry event, including Team Dunstone and Team McEwen. Three women’s teams — Team Casey Scheidegger of Lethbridge, Alta.; Team Kelsey Rocque of Edmonton; and Team Laura Walker of Edmonton — clinched trips to Saskatoon.

They join an already stacked field. On the men’s side, Team John Epping (Toronto), Team Brad Gushue (St. John’s, N.L.), Team Kevin Koe (Calgary), Team Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie) and Team Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton) will be competing, while other women’s teams headed to Saskatoon are Team Rachel Homan (Ottawa), Team Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg), Team Kerri Einarson (Gimli, Man.) and Team Tracy Fleury (East St. Paul, Man.).
