For a 48-hour period from mid-afternoon on November 15th to November 17th, The RCMP’s Roving Traffic Unit along with Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers conducted a road safety traffic initiative in the Yorkton area. Corporal Bryce Pender says it wasn’t a dedicated check-stop, although around 100 vehicles were pulled over in total. This resulted in six impaired drivers being removed from Saskatchewan roads. Five drivers tested positive for cannabis while one tested positive for alcohol. One driver had their license suspended for 120 days with a seven-day impoundment and the remaining drivers received a three-day suspension and vehicle impoundment.
