The Canada Border Services Agency seized more than 1,122 firearms last year, which is more than double the number from 2020. In one particular investigation into 3D-printed firearms manufacturing, the CBSA says border services officers were processing postal shipments in Mississauga and intercepted a suspicious package being sent to Manitoba from the U.S. They found undeclared firearm components, including metal parts and inserts most commonly used to reinforce the plastic frame of a 3D-printed gun.
The CBSA and the RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in the R.M. of Hanover, Manitoba and arrested a 34 year old man, who the CBSA says didn’t have a valid licence to produce or possess firearms.
