Czech D-Man Zizka Signs on to Join Sidorov as Blades Imports for Upcoming W-H-L Season

The Saskatoon Blades have commitments to play in the upcoming W-H-L season from both of their import players.

The Bridge City Bunch announced Tuesday that they have signed 2005-born Czech defenceman Tomas Zizka to a Standard Player Agreement. The Blue and Gold selected Zizka 37th overall in the 2022 C-H-L Import Draft back on Canada Day. Zizka joins forward and Belarus product Egor Sidorov as the two import players on the Saskatoon roster. Sidorov scored 23 goals in his first season. Blades sign 2022 CHL Import Draft Pick Tomas Zizka

SASKATOON, SK– The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce they have signed prospect, Tomas Zizka, to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
“Tomas is a very mobile puck-moving defenseman who we feel we will be a good long term Blade,” says president & general manager Colin Priestner. “He has exciting offensive upside on top of a very competitive nature.”

The Blades selected Zizka 37th overall in the 2022 CHL Import Draft on Friday, July 1st.

The 2005-born defenceman played out his 2021-22 season with the Lidingö Vikings J18. The 5-foot-10 140 pound skater played 31 games, chalking up 14 points (1G-13A), along with 16 penalty minutes.

Tomas is expected to attend his first Western Hockey League camp with the Blades this coming Fall and wear the pacman logo for the 2022-23 season.

The Saskatoon Blades would like to welcome Tomas and the Zizka Family into the organization, and look forward to continuing his development under the watchful eye of Brennan Sonne’s coaching staff.
