In addition to setting new hot weather records Friday in Saskatchewan, the heat was accompanied by thunderstorms in many areas, including Saskatoon where the Ray Carter Cup, Canadian Under-15 Boys Championship had to endure a rain and lightning delay at Nutana-Kiwanis Park. But in Moose Jaw a severe thunderstorm brought loonie sized hail to the community as well as heavy winds and torrential rain that caused flash flooding in some areas of the city. The flash flooding completely submerged a few intersections and caused manhole covers to pop off. The new weather records were set in the north which has been under heat warnings this week
