Several highways in southern Saskatchewan are closed this morning after being bombarded with heavy wet snow on the weekend thanks to a Colorado clipper.
There are snowfall and winter storm warnings in effect for the eastern side of the province from Estevan/Weyburn north to Creighton and Pelican Narrows.
Snow will continue this morning, then taper off from southwest to northeast later Monday into Monday night.
Strong northerly winds are also expected to accompany the falling snow. Expect visibilities to be reduced while travelling in heavy, falling snow.
Highways out of Moose Jaw are either travel not recommended and then closed or, just closed. Highway 11 out of Regina is closed for the majority of the way between Regina and Chamberlain.
The Moose Jaw Police Service says it has been dealing with a high-volume call load involving collisions, jack-knifed Semi units and vehicles in the ditch on Highway #1 and within the city.
Traffic was stopped due to a pile up of vehicles and semis affecting the westbound lane from Regina to Moose Jaw.
City of Saskatoon snow crews, through the night, were applying salt to improve traction, focusing on Circle Drive and other high speed roads, bridge decks and intersections.
