Two Streaks End as Warriors Blank Visiting Blades

The Blades are no longer on a three-game winning streak and Moose Jaw is no longer on a five-game winless skid after the Warriors blanked Saskatoon 4-0 Thursday night in Moose Jaw.

Jackson Unger stopped 32 shots for the shutout, the first time the Bridge City Bunch have been held without a goal this season. The Blue and Gold hit several posts and the Warriors likely blocked as many, if not more shots than the Blades managed to get through to Unger. Saskatoon came into the game with a 14-5-2 record, good for first place in the East Division and Eastern Conference while Moose Jaw was last in the entire W-H-L with a 4-13-4 mark. However, the Warriors took advantage of Bridge City Bunch miscues in neutral ice, scoring the first two goals on an odd-man rush and a breakaway while Unger and his goal posts made the lead stand up. The Blue and Gold return to action Saturday in Medicine Hat against a Tigers’ team the Blades beat 5-3 on Tuesday at SaskTel Centre. Saskatoon is 9-0-1 at home, 5-6-1 on the road.
