Blades Overcome “Disconnected” Play to Buck the Broncos in a Shootout

By Les Lazaruk Nov 30, 2024 | 11:53 PM

Tyler Parr (pictured) scored his first career W-H-L shootout goal, the only one in the penalty shot competition Saturday night, giving the Saskatoon Blades a 4-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos.

The Bridge City Bunch never led in front of 5,265 fans, but battled back three times to force overtime before Parr’s 15-foot shot beat Speedy Creek goaltender Joey Rocha, giving the Blue and Gold nine straight home wins and 11 consecutive SaskTel Centre successes over Swift Current. David Lewandowski tallied twice for the Blades and Jordan Martin forced extra time just 42 seconds after the Broncos had taken their third, one-goal advantage of the night. The result gives 17-6-2 Saskatoon a seven-point lead over 14-10-1 Swifty atop the W-H-L’s East Division. The Bridge City Bunch out-shot Swift Current 32-22. The Blue and Gold take a three-game winning streak into a home game Wednesday against the Red Deer Rebels. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show comments from head coach Dan Da Silva, Lewandowski and Martin plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
