Saskatoon’s Harrison Hurdles to January Sask Sport Salute

Take your eyes off Michelle Harrison and you will miss her!

The U of S student and Huskie track and field star is the latest recipient of the Sask Sport athlete-of-the-month award. Harrison won two 60-metre hurdles events indoors at the Saskatoon Field House in January. The first one came in the inaugural Sanderson Classic track meet on January 11. The second came on January 25 at the Knights of Columbus, Saskatchewan Indoor Games when Harrison set a Huskie Athletics record with a time of 8.22 seconds in winning the invitational 60-metre hurdles. That performance earned the Saskatoon product Top Canadian honours at the K of C Games. Harrison is ranked first in U Sports and overall amongst Canadian female hurdlers in the 60-metre event. Saskatoon hurdler Michelle Harrison named

January Athlete of the Month

With two gold medals in 60-metre hurdles competition, Saskatoon’s Michelle Harrison has been named Sask Sport Inc.’s January Athlete of the Month.

Harrison won her first medal of the month in the event at the national Sanderson Classic Track Meet on Jan. 11. Two weeks later, she struck gold again in the 60-metre hurdles at the international Knights of Columbus Indoor Games. Clocking in at 8.22, she set a Huskie Athletics record and was named the Top Canadian at the event.

 

Harrison, a University of Saskatchewan student and Huskie Athletics athlete, is currently ranked No. 1 in U SPORTS and in Canadian indoor women’s competition in the 60-metre hurdles.

 

Harrison was nominated for the Athlete of the Month Award by Saskatchewan Athletics.
