The Community Initiatives Fund has announced grants for 457 projects for Saskatchewan communities which applied by their February 1st and April 1st deadlines.
The CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created through The Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corporation Act and managed by a government appointed Board of community volunteers.
More than $6.5 million will be awarded to programs that contribute to the wellbeing of children, youth, families and communities through a dedicated share of annual SaskGaming casino revenues.
Some of the initiatives that were funded include $31,580 for community programs in the Town of La Ronge, the Boys & Girls Club Drop-in Program in North Battleford received $35,000, the Prince Albert John Diefenbaker Public Schools received $30,000 towards a School Nutrition Coordinator. In Rosthern just over $3,000 was awarded to the Good Neighbours Food Centre Community Garden & Orchard Expansion Project and in Saskatoon $50,000 went to STR8UP 10,000 Little Steps to Healing Community Outreach.
