Blades Take First of Four Straight Pre-Season Games With Arch-Rival Raiders

By Les Lazaruk Sep 2, 2025 | 5:09 PM

No matter if it’s regular season, playoffs – or even pre-season, as was the case on Tuesday afternoon at SaskTel Centre – bragging rights are on the line any time the Saskatoon Blades face off against the arch-rival Prince Albert Raiders. For Tuesday, at the least, the Bridge City Bunch won the decision by a 4-1 score!

It was a game designed to give young training camp attendees a chance to experience a W-H-L pre-season game against their peers. Most of Tuesday’s combatants were to head home after the game and be back at school as soon as Wednesday, while the remainder will likely suit up again in the return contest in Prince Albert Wednesday night. On Tuesday, the Blue and Gold may have had somewhat of an experience advantage as four players dressed have suited up for a dozen total regular-season W-H-L contests. P-A opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Denver product and forward Henning Reinprecht. The Blades scored responded to the Raiders’ tally with four unanswered goals – three of them in the second period. One of those came from Newport Beach, California, product and Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16-and-under right winger from last season, Gavin Clark. The 17-year-old was named the game’s first star. Julian Revel, Kiptyn Kennedy and Adam Halat, the latter into an empty net, also tallied for Saskatoon, who out-shot P-A 32-26. In addition to Wednesday’s “rookie” game, the Blades and Raiders will also meet Friday at the Art Hauser Centre and Saturday in Warman – with the line-ups expected to feature some veteran, experienced players. Following is the official game summary, courtesy the W-H-L website plus my post-game interviews with Clark and Blades’ Director of Scouting, Dan Tencer…..
