Two young men are facing charges relating to theft, weapons, and assault following an incident in Yorkton.
On September 17 at 4:51 p.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report of a theft at a store on Broadway Street. Officers were told a man was throwing rocks at a store employee before he was joined by a second man and ran away.
Then, just over ten minutes later, officers got a call reporting two men throwing rocks at dogs and threatening the caller with bear spray. Police spotted the two males, but they ran away in different directions.
After a police pursuit through a grassy area, a 22-year-old man was hit by the police vehicle and fell. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; however, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team was called to investigate. An internal investigation by professional standards has been launched by the Saskatchewan RCMP, as well.
Now, a 22-year-old male from Mallard, Manitoba and a 20-year-old from Yorkton are facing a combined total of 10 charges.
